This is my first attempt at chopping a Yamaha xs650. Its a 1979 with a tcbros hardtail and forward controls, old ford tail light, softail head light, West eagle seat, and welded on sportster slash cut pipes. Still uses points ignition but seems to run good. I have a 1980 XS650 in the works right now, im thinking somthing low. More of a chopper than a bobber
This is a cold start on a 1975 yamaha xs650b all original bike except the handlebars; i have the original ones i just like these better. Bike only has 12000 miles on it; its never had any engine work. like i said. all original.

I just bought this ‘79 XS650 from a loving owner who pampered it and rode it on Sunday’s and kept it neatly tucked away in his garage. I painted it flat black, drilled out the pipes, re-jetted it, threw some moto bars on it and am now enjoying adding to it’s 7700 original, adult ridden miles before I take a sawzall to it. Poor little guy had an easy life up until now.
This is my 1977 Yamaha XS650. Me and my dad got it for 0 and have fixed it up to what you see today! When we got it it was faded banana yellow. Paint – just spray bomb with a spray bomb clear coat with hardener. Drag bars/flat bars with bar end mirror 2-1 Mac exhaust Brand new mikuni round slide carbs (36mm, but i can’t remember for sure) In the near future I want to scrap the stock seat and get something more cafe racer styled. Xs650 bobber documentary or short film. My name is Brian ~ I’m an amateur bike builder. I’ve noticed a really cool culture developing around garage builders, dirt balls, drag bikes, rat bikes, bar hoppers, choppers, and the like. I decided to compile a little longer a video to show off the bike (obviously) and talk a little more about exactly what it means to me to be riding what I build, and my appreciation for DIY or building on the cheap. This bike was built from a 1973 yamaha xs650 twin and includes a TC bros hardtail, 81 650 special front end, an 18″ rear wheel from the scrap yard, an early sporty tank and a couple really cool Firestone throw back tires.
