I have a 1981 Yamaha XS650. The last time I rode it was 2 years ago and it ran fine. Since then some of the wires have corroded and the ignition and turn signals dont work. I’m pretty sure I can have it back in running condition for a couple hundred bucks….The problem is this, It hasen’t been registered since 2001 and I have been told I will have to pay back registration for the last 7 years. (I Live in Seattle, Washington) If I only have to pay the current registration I am willing to pay it., If not I will just part the bike out.

Does anyone know anything about vehicle registration in washington? Or is the bike even worth keeping….

Parts are expensive but new bikes are Very expensive. Besides the XS was a very reliable ride. Cant imagine that you would have to pay back rego! But one phone call to the reg dept should clear it up and save you time and money

Here you just let them know that it was broke and not being rode and you should not have to pay but current taxes. Those were good reliable bikes and lots of ways to modify. Have you looked at 650motorcycles.com do a search your bike has a big following i would keep it.
