Such a sweet machine. Truly a classic. I had a 1981 Special II. My Dad had a 1971 model when I was a kid.
Hey i have a ‘78 xs..just wondering what that whining sound is..because I like it lol..is it an exhaust leak?.
No, it’s not an exhaust leak….not sure what it is, but it does it every once in awhile when you first start it (only when it’s cold). I have asked plenty of mechanics about it and none of them really know for sure. So I say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it..LOL Thanks for the comment….
Sounds good
i like how the sound goes off whenever you zoom in haha. nice bike. you think $800 for a ‘75 with about 16000 miles? over here in milwaukee these are a dime a dozen and i cant wait to buy mine!
That’s how bikes are supposed to sound… When revving up, the dogs should start barking & the neighbor’s kids should start to burst out in tears >:)
Love it!
Looks and SOUNDS nice
, nicely restored!
Try to check the your exhaust manifoild lol i’m not even sure if its cold exhaust manifoiled try to check if its fited correctly.
beautiful bike
Oh wow…absolutely beautiful resto, man. Top notch.
dude, that is nothing to worry about, that is a little noise made by the stroke chain inside the engine opening and closing the valves, the sound is because the oil is still a bit cold, but when it gets warmer, the the noise is gone. so keep enjoying your machine and keep everything properly oiled!!!
cheers man!!
Very nice bike. I really like the color scheme, the green is awesome. I have a ‘79 special with the mag wheels. I would love to have an older model with the spoke wheels like yousr tho, I think they go better with the overall styling. Awesome job on the resto, your bike looks great.
Very nice bike
I just bought a 81 650 maxim for 300 and cant wait to get it running!!! good sounding bike!!!!
Nice to see one looking so well restored!
I’m torn between chopping my 1980 special II or or just going for a full stock restoration.
BTW, nice license plate!
LFOD!
Sweeeeet. My dad has a 71XS and I had an 81 XS Special. Torquy motors.
