actually, a chopper and a bobber are generally the same thing. Chopper came from chopping parts off stock bikes to make them look more rugged, and bobber is bobbing the back end (making the rear tire smaller) Yes, the newer custom bikes are also called “choppers” but they are more like sleds because nothing was “chopped” to cause them to look thata way. :) Either way, whichever you choose to ride, its still a motorcycle!!

Im guessing gearing has been changed, seems super tall. Also have the cyclinders been bored out? My stock 83 650 doesn’t sound near as good as that….yet.

The frame has a nine inch rear stretch, and a 35 degree rake. The forks were shortened two under. Kicker only, 19″ up front, 16″ rear.

God, this brings back memories. My first bike was a 79 SR 500. Nice ride!

No rear fender,,,imagine if you slipped back onto the rear tyre for some reason, lol, you would at least loose your family jewels.

djphathill October 11, 2009 at 4:16 am

my best friend has it like that on a Harley “Sportster”, it look great, but yeah, one day after acouple too many beers, he hit a hole and fell on the backtire, i’ll ust say it was painfull, more for him than the bicke. but who cares? when you’re a bobber builder, all it matters is that the bike looks badass!

lotuselanplus2s October 11, 2009 at 5:30 pm

what about a small rail around the back of the seat (like the old Indians had) it would, at least, keep you in place.I agree though, sweet looking ride.

djphathill October 11, 2009 at 8:58 pm

i know right? some safety gear to kkep ur ass on your back, not on your back tire! jajajaja I gotta put picks of my bicke here, I made a cafe racer kind of like, but i custom made a rear fender that is just big enoght to make sure i wont fall on the rear tire, here in Puerto Rico man, there fucking holes on the street everywhere joe.
